January 23, 2012 Lunar New Year
Xin Nian Kuai Le! Happy New Year!
Year of the Dragon
Dragons are a symbol of power, capability, and strength. People born in 2012 (or 12 years before or after) are dragons, and are considered to be brave, energetic, strong, decisive, and confident. In celebration of this important holiday, art and Chinese classes collaborated to make this mural for the Chenery cafeteria. This dragon is 15 feet long!!!
How did we work collaboratively to construct this dragon in the art room?
Students in the art room learned that warm colors are significant in Chinese culture. Red symbolizes good luck!
We practiced our collage techniques while cutting and pasting scales to a red paper base...and we made made a huge dent in an enormous box of scrap paper!
